  • Served notice on garage without notification

I have been renting a lock up garage since September 2020 and it isn't local to me so have not visited it that often I have been paying my rent regularly with no issues

This week I went to the lock up garage and the locks had been changed however I managed to gain access and to my horror it was completely empty
I spoke to a neighbour who lives opposite the garage and they told me that in October approximately 6 months ago there was a notice on the front of the garage saying the rightful owners require this property back please remove the goods inside or will be disposed of

Unfortunately this notice was no longer present inside or outside of the garage

I immediately contacted the landlord and his first reaction was for me to call the police and to not make any more payments to him in relation to the garage I make monthly payments of £120

I have since contacted the police but there is nothing they can do without any further information

The garage was completely full and would have required several trips and heavy lifting to have cleared it out completely

The landlord has not said anything more

What should be my next course of action should there be a record of the served notice somewhere so I can see who has done this

It seems strange to me that it's been served notice and they carried it out to the letter without any notification to me is this an illegal eviction

    Can somebody please help me

    A few questions first.

Do you have a written rental agreement? If so, does it have any relevant terms?

Did the landlord know your address?

Have you been paying the rent on time?
