Housing Association Taken Away Right to Buy

Hi,

I moved into my flat near 5 years ago now and when I moved in I signed a contract that states I had Right to buy.
since then a new company has taken over, before they took over we were sent a letter informing us a new company was taking over, however nothing would change.
a few weeks back I wrote to my housing association to find out how much my property would be to buy and I was told I do not have right to buy.

Are they allowed to do this? I have not signed a new contract or signed anything to give away my right to buy.

Any advice would be appreciated.

(Not legally trained.): As far as I am aware the key is your origional contract. Tenancy Agreements cannot be changed unless both parties, (landlord and tenant) agree. Housing associations normally offer Assured tenancies, not secure, which means the tenant would not have the Right to Buy, but could have the Right to Acquire. There is a massive difference in discounts between the two schemes. I hope you get is sorted.

(Not legally trained.) - I was to late. Raise a formal complaint, escalate it as far as you can with your land lord then take it to the Housing Ombudsman. The 6 year limitation act comped into play so its best to start the process. The Ombudsman's decision is legally binding. The key is your tenancy agreement.
