Hello,
I just do NOT know where to start, so forgive me if I'm all over the place, I also have dyslexia.
My husband and I have just moved, Friday gone, into a 3 bed semi, with garage, it's our second time onto the ladder step in property ownership, we moved from a nice new build to a 3 bed semi to be closer to my eldest daughter and grand children as my health is deterioating.
We exchanged contracts on the Friday before we moved, and we moved Friday after (25th June).
We viewed the 3 bed semi twice before putting in an offer in December 2020 and again early January 2021, we knew it needed work, such as decorating and a new bathroom very soon, but kitchen altho old ( 80s) it was doable for maybe a year give us a chance to save for nicer kitchen, it was basically cosmetic stuff really, that was needed, our survey showed no huge concerns, stuff easily fixed if needed etc so we was OK, and went ahead with purchase.
It was a difficult sale as chain had collapsed once, and it did become good again tho.
Friday came, the BIG move day, we had just one week notice, we couldn't get the vans we needed so had to use two small vans, anyway we got it on both, all our belongings, and headed off to new new home.
We arrived and saw rubbish left on driveway, little bit peeved, but hey ho, we can deal with that later we thought..
We turned the newly collected keys In to the lock and opened the door...
And Bang, a stench hit us, it was over powering, it was urine smell, we walked in, and was ahgast even further, the carpets were all filthy, and it was obvious where smell was coming from, every sodding carpet in the house apart from small single bedroom stank, stank of stale cat urine, carpets to look at had stains and in grain dirt into them, basically so dirty you just about made out the colour of original colour of them,.... Kitchen was filthy, grease all over hob and dirt and stains, same for extractor hood, and oven, well, it was even worse....food left in cupboards in large amounts, some half eaten, filthy dirty cupboards especially inside, Bathroom, was awful, again filthy, toilet I cannot even describe it, but was black, grey is stained in bowl, public hair caught in toilet seat all over, toilet seat was spilt underneath with human feaces stuck in cracks of toilet seat, Bath was filthy, so was shower screen and tiles flooring stank too, it was Carpeted, the whole sodding house was just pure filth. Garden has rubbish left in it, stuck down side of conservatory, and end of garden, like broken toys, bricks, old. Posts, posts, bits of wood etc broke ornamonts broken bits of paving slabs thrown in odd places, the front garden has rubbish left on driveway but stuck near bushes, bins were full to brim and not emptied even tho they moved out same day we moved in, collection was two days before we moved in, stuff left in garage such as shelving unit from a bedroom, old loose bike wheel, broken shelving in bits, bags of general waste.
When we viewed to us yes was old, out dated, and cluttered, but we knew we had to update it, more cosmetic, we didn't see filth tho then... Not bad like this.
We have spoken to the solicitors we used, to make a huge complaint, all they doing is passing this on to their solicitor with visual photographs we took of all of the issues asking them to ask they sellers do they have any plans to deal with this all.
We have HAD to get two nights at a local Premier in, due to house not fit to sleep in, and now sleeping at my daughters on a blow up bed, in her living room, she has 3 children!! , we have had to pay for meals out due to kitchen in state, I cannot do all that deep cleaning myself, I have dics issues, husband has to work, he cannot do it all, we been basically left to deal with all their dirt. Its like all they did was packed up all their personal belongings and furniture they wanted to keep and walked out the house and didn't do one thing to prepare the house for next owners...
We have been robbed, robbed from what should of been a lovely beautiful exciting experience of moving to a new home, robbed of sleeping in new home, robbed of money we so far have had to fork out in hotel bills, takeout, etc due to kitchen filth, and robbed of our happiness we had before this nightmare began, me and husband have had harsh words to each other, blaming etc, because we both so stressed out, we had a small budget to do the work we thought was needed for the house and no more, we not rich people, we now have to find money for complete new carpets, for cleaners to come In and deep clean, and also get large amounts of rubbish cleared now, and also possibly and infestation person in as seeing carpet weeval casings around in corners of floors.....
Where on earth do we legally stand with all this, we shocked, the couple who we bought off were proffesional people, he is a head teachers she is a NHS phisiotherapist, AND had a young 4 year old daughter living there too, we just in shock we think, we don't know where to start or turn, we just STUCK. Please help
Thank you.
