Right of Way Gates Closed

We own an equestrian property and have Right of Way over a trackway leading to the road. At the bottom of the trackway are metal gates that have always been closed and locked. This provides security for our horses and stops them getting on the road should they get off the leading reigns on the trackway. My question is whether the land owner can just remove the gates or whether after 20 years+ we now have a right for those gates to remain closed and locked?

I would say that you have a right of way but nothing else. Perhaps a discussion with the landowner?

Put gates on your part where you exercise. Maybe a double gate.

"You Own your property" The "land owner" owns the land controlling access to the (public road) road. Absolutely, you are "landlocked" and therefore the adjacent landowner must give you access to the public road.

He gives us access and we do have access to the trackway. The issue is that currently if a horse spooks and breaks free on the trackwayhis gates protect them from the road.
