  • Misold property advice?

Just wanted some advice . We purchased a property which was original a granny annex (a big one) on the land of another house. The land was subdivided and the owners of the Main house where selling that one also and we’re moving . When they were selling the house we told them we would need to extend the property (it’s a small detached house on a large plot it’s far enough away from the main house to be separate) and they had no problems with this were telling us ideas etc . The solicitor also asked this question to the seller which we have in writing incase they didn’t sell and they said they would have no problem with us extending subject to planning.
Fast forward a year. They didn’t move! The lady has been horrible to us since we moved in commenting on what we are doing all the time like she owns it still and taking pictures of anything we do to report us. We put in planning and discussed it with them in the summer. We then start to get very similar 2 page objections with a lot of false accusations in then from a small handful of neighbours . Another neighbour who wasn’t involved Told us they have been rallying up and winding each other up about our plans to object. Cut a long story short we ended up withdrawing those plans and will resubmit smaller plans later on .
however we put in for a lawful development certificate for our garage which comes under our permitted development rights as these neighbours kept calling the council on us a and they have started objecting again....
their property is a listed building ours is not it’s much more modern (they built it ) and on the form when they sold us they said there was no TPOs no clauses on the land and we were NOT in the curtlidge of a listed building as we are a seperate dwelling .Then in the objections they tried to say we are in the curtlidge of a listed building And keep using the listed building and saying we’ve removed ancient trees( we havnt we’ve just re coppiced Old dead farm trees(council are fine with it) , do you think we have a case against them for miselling? Or perhaps harassment ?
even putting a gate up is a problem as it’s not to their taste.
At first I felt awful about upsetting everyone now I’m just getting angry the more I think about it ! Not all the neighbours have a problem it’s just these that sold us the house and their friends who live opposite and next door but one. I know it’s a long one ! Any advice?
