    Hello again,
Sincere apologies for the delay in posting the outcome. A friend suggested I contacted the local County Council Highways as the tree is also just back from the pavement/road. I had a lengthy conversation with a gentleman who was very helpful but seemed reluctant to get involved. Then right at the end of the conversation he said he would send their surveyor to have a look. He found a crack in a large limb, which was also the limb causing most problems. They wrote to the owner instructing them to have the limb removed as a matter of urgency and to arrange for the remainder of the tree to have extensive work. The local District Council were a waste of time offering mere yes and no answers to questions. So, a box of choccies for the friend who suggested contacting the Highways dept at the CC and a Chestnut Tree that looks much healthier. Than you for the help and for reading and hoping one day this thread may assist someone else. Dario
