Good evening i am trying to help a friend thats in a dilemma.
She has recently split from her husband after an abusive controlling relationship and is living in a housing association property.
The husband (who she will be pursuing divorce from) has gone awol and she has advised her housing association that they are no longer together and UC have said they will only pay half her rent as he is still on the tenancy even though he signed a termination of tenancy.
The housing association are now saying that she will have to sit in a room with this man and sign a form at the same time.
Due to their past she doesn't want to put herself in any danger by doing this and the likelihood of this happening is impossible as they live hundreds of miles apart.
Does she legally have to pay his half? She is poorly and in receipt of UC.
What options are available to her please
Thanks in advance
