  • Aerial images

    Hi,

Not sure if this could be posted somewhere better?

This is a long shot, but wondering if anybody on herehas experience in interpreting aerial photographs and obtaining measurements from them?

I have already done this myself, but would appreciate a second opinion.*

    Thanks.

Find an object on the ground that you can measure the size of - garage, road width or is there a car make/ model you can identify? if so you then have a base to work from - be aware that angled shots will distort.

Thank you very much for your reply.

The method you suggest is the method I used when interpreting the images myself, along with creating an overlay of three different images and comparing these.

All of the images are vertical.

Are you qualified, or do you have experience, in interpreting aerial imagery? If so, I wonder if you would be willing to take a look at my overlay of images and provide your opinion on my interpretation of these?...As advised, I would really appreciate a second opinion.

      Thanks again.

Hi Kenny sorry I missed your answer. I am not formally trained just an engineer.

What sort information are you trying to extract?
There are programmes that use drone images to calculate volumes of quarries and carry out a difference calculation on a day to day basis.

            Hi

            Thanks for your reply.

I'm hoping to confirm that I am interpreting edges of features on the ground accurately and, subsequently, to confirm measurements.

Is this something you would be willing to attempt to assist with?

            Thanks again.

Post images up on a hosting site and place link to them here. We can then take a look.

Post the link here and also explain what you are trying to measure.
