I have new neighbours who have just had a new block paved driveway done. Previously, there was a low wall, their wall, between the two properties. This wall had leaned towards their side for years and eventually fell about a year ago. On my side of the wall, there was a narrow strip of earth, probably around 8” wide which was gravelled but also had a few very small plants in, and then my driveway.
At the time the wall fell the house was on the market and the wall was just left and my strip got inundated with weeds. So the builders arrived and dug out my bit of land as well as the neighbours for their new block paving.
When I asked them how they were going to finish it off I was told my small strip would be concreted. There was no new wall, it was just being left open. I told them I didn’t want concrete, I wanted earth as previously there had been. So the works been done but because their drive is lower than mine, there’s nothing to retain my earth so it slopes off towards them.
Is this ok? I don’t like it, the builders originally agreed to put the bricks on their end to retain it but they’ve been cemented in on their sides. Should my earth be flat and flush with my drive as it was before? I know it’s petty but I just wanted it to be as it was so I could put a few plants in there.
