  • Housebuilder damaged my house

    Can someone please help me.

we have been in our new build house over a year now and our neighbour next door has had a issue with bricks missing on there house on the gable end next to us. There is about a 1.5m alley between our houses, half our garden and the other half there garden. With a fence and around a 8ft height difference between us.

we came home one day and scaffolding has been erected in our garden for the neighbours work to be carried out. This has been done without us granting access or even being informed the work was planned. The builders have climbed over our fence to gain access. they have also moved our bins in order to erect the scaffolding.

our television is no longer getting signal and once the scaffolding company sent someone to look at this we have found out they have dammaged our tv ariel.

once we pointed this out, work was finished and we threatened to bill for the use of our land the scaffolding was taken down

we have complained to the house builder who arranged for the works to be carried out. They have told us to either get works sorted ourselves and pass the invoice on to claim monies back or get 3 quotes and they will give us a cheque. Neither of which we are happy to do. We dont believe we should have to put the money up to wait to be refunded or go through the hassle of getting quotes then sending quotes off, waiting for a cheque then waiting for it to clear to then get work carried out.

Can anyone help with this as we dont know where we stand.

I've had the same inconvenience when me, with my wife were building a house, but it was from our side now haha. Well, later then we kicked out that builders and a good old friend of mine recommended us guys from Arch10 that professionally did their job and noone did the inconvenience. Honestly, there are so many bad builders that do bad not only to your property but also to property of your neighbors, so you should be careful in your chosing. Well, you can suggest your neighbors to chose those guys if they're still available and I guess that will solve your problem

Sorting the issue yourselves then invoicing them is the normal way of dealing with things where liability has been assumed. Or get the quotes. What do you think should happen?
