Hiya,
I run a coffee shop next door to, and ever so slightly downhill from, a takeaway. A really strong damp/sewery type smell comes from under the floorboards every time it rains.
Council have sent UU out who have inspected the pipes etc. and no issue there. Spoke to the landlord who said that there was a similar issue about three years ago. A dye test in the neighbour's drains revealed the dye under the floorboards approx 24hrs later. The rrar of my shop is also a hallway and stairway for the flat above and they are suffering with the smell as well.
Apparently, next door were told to maintain their drain (by not pouring oil down, I imagine). If this is turns out to be the same issue, how do I (rather than the council who they are obviously ignoring) prevent/discourage them from repeating the issue and stinking out my shop?
Thanks in advance
