I learnt that sometimes in these situations, its easyer to appease the the person to a point, than to play along. People get fixed intyo arguing, especialy when it comes to your home. You have acted decently,

The gate not being closed when she uses it may actualy be a problem.

Theres an insurance niggle with acsess rights and leving a area less secure. If she leaves the acess open and something gets stolen from your garden, you would claim off her insurance, ( or your insurance co would ). Nothing to worry about, but maybe good to make sure she knows shes responcable for this if ti is inscure.
