I am very concerned. My partner of 5 years and who is 71 and displaying signs of early altzheimers has decided that he no longer wants to live with me and wants to sell our home. He says he hates me and no longer loves me. He has been violent and continues to be verbally accusative. There is no diagnoses as yet as he will not see a doctor. I have had to have him arrested on one occasion before where he spat at me, called me names and kicked me.
I have a Scottish liferent on the property, which states I have the right to live here until my death. Can you help me as to where I stand on this point. I have no money to relocate, and in fact gave up my council home to move him with him. He has also agreed on paper in the liferent to repay the £10,000 input into the repairs of the property and I am named in his Will for 20% of his pension fund, approx £100,000 along with his children. I am 62 and have no pension at this time. I receive ESA contribution based and I am also in receipt of PIP for a long term disability. I am very worried that he can take my home away from me, and sell it and also that he is ill with Altzheimers and will become increasingly aggressive. I am jointly named along with his brother in a lasting power of attorney form. Should I now go to the Citizens Advice or a Solicitor to protect and clarify my security. I am very afraid as my last partner sold the house from under me, and I ended up homeless and had to be rehoused by the council. I had no legal protection in that situation. My current partner was a wonderful man until about two years ago when he started behaving oddly and becoming irrational and verbally aggressive.
