  • Laminate flooring

    Hi
wondering if anyone can help. My parents live in a ground floor flat in a converted Victorian house. The flat above has been completely done out, including some very cheap laminate flooring. Every footstep can be heard, in fact everything can be heard!
Is it legal for laminate/wood type floors to be laid in upstairs dwellings? Is there anything that can be done? They are very unapproachable and unreasonable sontalkung to them directly is not possible.

    thanks in advance x

What are the conditions on the lease? Does it say that there must be carpet on the floor?

Nothing on my parents, as they are on the ground floor. The occupiers of the above property also happen to be related to the owners of the building, so I'm not sure if they even have a lease!

My daughter lives in a top floor apartment and she isn't allowed laminate flooring. This is stated in her tenancy agreement

Laminate flooring is a floor covering made of multiple layers of materials. Most times, that material is wood pulp or other fibers. Other times, it can be made from plastics. In both cases, plastic adhesive is used between the layers to make them stick together. It is different from traditional hardwood floors in that it is much cheaper and easier to install.
