Hi. Ive had an iPad 2 for several years with no problems. I havent updated the operating system for almost 2 years. Today I used the reset option to update the system and now it requires activation to complete the process. I entered my details and it came up with activation error. I did this several time with the same results. I went to apple site and followed all their instructions to rectify the problem and none of them work. The last option was to take it to an apple store. I went to an apple store and they couldnt activate it or reset it and told me to phone customer support. I have arranged for customer support to phone me in the morning but feel they may try to wash their hands off it.
On doing a bit of research it seems it is a known problem with certain older models after an update. But from what I read online people are not getting anywhere with it and are being fobbed off by apple.
Here is the question; as it was their update which has now made the iPad unusable, do they have to repair it or replace it, or can they simply say its an old model, out of warranty and nothing they can do?
The apple shop said i might be offered a discount on a newer model but that is no use to me as i cant afford to pay the difference. I was working when i purchased the iPad, i am unemployed on benefits now.
Thanks for any help
