Hi Guys,
I had a Facebook which I created over 11 years ago when I was 16/17. However I deleted this account because I hated Facebook purely from a privacy point of view.
Unknown to me, Facebook reactivated my account sometime within the last year, without sending a notification to my email. I was only alerted when my partner said to me that my profile was online again. So I quickly tried to access my account and quickly delete it.
After logging in Facebook denied me access and asked me to send my proof of identity in a form of Passport, Utility Bill etc. So I uploaded a copy of British Passport. I then received an email 24 hours later to state that the British Passport is not a valid proof of ID (yes it's in date and current), please could I send a Utility bill. So I sent my NPower fuel bill. Again this was not accepted. I have nothing else to send as all my bills/statements are online, trying to be green and all that.
So the issue I have now, is that I have a profile up, which also has a lot of photos up that I don't want my employers and clients seeing...as they may think this is me now! But Facebook won't allow me access to the account to delete it and I have no idea what legal right I have here or what to do about it? Do I now have to pay for a lawyer to write to Facebook to get my account removed?
For something so simple I'm worried I'm going to have to pay for lawyer to write letters to Facebook and on top of that it's the damaging effect this could potentially have on my employment for an account that I deleted many many years ago!
Thanks for any advice in advance!
