Hi All,
I have a bit of a strange question maybe. I was sharing a flat with somebody and we fell out. This person has been sending me extremely abusive emails as well as insulting emails about me to other people. We now have both a “prevention of harassment letter” signed. However, the emails he sent came from his office email address i.e. sent using his employer's resources..
Question 1. If I would to publish those emails on the Internet would that constitute harassment and can I get arrested?
We fell out because I was asking him to share the costs of living to which we verbally agree. I understand from other people that I cannot claim from him the gas water and electricity bills so that is gone, right?
However, I also paid the FULL deposit to the real estate agent. When I asked him to pay his share he said per email that he would not since I paid all of it. I have two emails in which he confirmed that I would get all of the funds back. Now that we moved houses the agent is asking how to distribute the remaining funds of the deposits and it appears there their needs to be a consent from both parties. My former flat mate now claims that he is entitled to 50% of the remaining funds.
Question 2. Can he get that if I can prove in court that 1. He has not paid any of it and 2. After asking contributing 50% of the funds he refused and by email admits that I will get all of it.
Question 3. Shall I agree to the agent to pay him 50% of the remaining funds and then go to small claims court and ask if I can get 50% of the original full deposit amount i.e. GBP 800?

At that point he started sending the following emails. See below.
Question 3. Can I sue him for defamation?

My mother at this time was in the hospital. This has caused me additional stress. The statements are full of lies. What is most distressing that this is part of a correspondence that started between his younger brother and me. His brother then forwards it to him and he replies to me and puts my father on the cc. |
