I was involved in a car accident as a passenger, and sustained injury as a result, now the defendant has offered an out of court settlement which I deemed to be reasonable. So I decided to accept the settlement offer, however my solicitors are refusing to notify the defendant of my intentions. my solicitor keep telling me they are "protecting their position".
My solicitors keep telling me if they go ahead with the trial and win, I would be entitled to additional £200 - 300. I am totally not interested to go to trial and risk losing a relatively larger sum to gain £200.
I am here to ask a few things...
1, Can my solicitors force me to go to trial against my will?
2, would my solicitor have any legal power to refuse my instruction?
3, Is there any legal body where I can report my solicitors to, because what they are doing to me is really little less than coercion.
4, I hope it doesn't come to this, but as a last resort, Is it possible for me to contact the defendant directly and advice them that I want to accept their offer?
thanks in advance & I am really grateful for your time.
