Re: Taking Dentist to court over poor care whilst a child under the NHS

Hi, ok. THe problem I have found is that once I explain what has happened, most dentists don't really want to get involved as their oppinion will be highly scruitinised.

I have tried going to my doctor several times and writing a letter explaining how upset I am about things, but when I visited him, he said there is nothing he can do. He said he could write a letter to the PCT but they would not act on it, so it was not worth his time. He said the fact now is that I am an adult, so I am expected to pay for it - this is the answer I get from virtually everyone.

Maybe before you go and get quotes, you should approach your previous dentist and see if you can get a copy of the treatment plan. I think the problem will be that now you are an adult, it will inevitably be a more tricky job than when you were a child. So it would be useful for you to see how much more work now needs to be done compared to what would have been done when you were a child. Not sure if it is possible to get such things just an idea?
