When a property changes hands does the Land Registry need to be notified immediately of the transfer, or eg is there a period of say 28 days in which to lodge the forms?

A property I have an interest in changed hands immediately before Xmas. I want to buy title/price paid info from Land Registry, but dont want to shell out until I'm certain the register has been updated.

    Re: Land registry

Just spoken to Land Registry, there doesnt seem to be any statutory timescale for the lodging of TR1 forms, but they are expected to be lodged asap.
As solicitors are usually involved it can sometimes take weeks for these forms to be lodged.
However a search against the register is only protected for 28 days from the date of transfer.
