A professional person who was working on my behalf 15 years ago, didn't do as I asked which left me heavily in debt.
I ended up in court, he was pointed out by the judge as doing wrong.
Because this left me in debt at the time, I couldn't afford to sue him, I can't sue him now because it's too late!
I now want to name and shame him by way of a local flyer, pointing out facts that I can backup.
This means that I believe he can sue me for defamation (if he dare).
If he does take me to court, can I counter sue him for the wrongs he did to me?

If his professional business suffers as a result of your flyer he may well be able to do that, yes. Whether he would win is a different question.

The wrongs you believe he did to you could form part of your defence against his defamation claim. But if any direct claim you might have had against him for compensation/damages is in fact statute barred then it will remain staute barred even if he brings a defamation claim against you. His defamation claim wouldn't "unbar" it.
