Can anyone please give some advice regarding a 5 year old default.
I am unable to get a personal loan through my own bank whom I've been with for over 20 years.
I thought the older the default the less important they are.
I want to apply for a personal loan so I can pay off all my credit cards debts into 1 affordable payment.
The default leaves my credit file next June.
The default occurred because back in 2016, I had a benefit review, and lost half my income, so I wasn't able to pay the minimum payment.
The credit card company was well aware of my circumstances, but issued the default.
However they did agree never to chase me for payment.
Because of this 1 black mark 5 years ago, through no fault of my own, I now cannot get a personal loan from my own bank.
