  • Invited to a medical trial - then told me they made a mistake

    Simply put:

Went for a prescreen for a trial worth several thousand pounds.

Told I had extra heartbeats on my ECG, and would probably not be invited to join the trial.

A week later, I was invited. Told I would be part of the main dosing group as well, not just a reserve.

Three weeks spent following their guidelines. No alcohol, certain foods, exercise, etc.

Went to the study ward (4 hour journey). Another doctor told me I had to leave, after doing my ECG, and told me I should never have been invited to join the study - "it was an oversight on our part".

Came home, now stewing. I changed all my plans and made many sacrifices to attend this study, including telling another study place that I did not want to continue with them, having done a prescreen there.

    What are my rights here?

You have to look at all the history of it and establish if there was a contract and if so what were its terms.
I cannot see that such an arrangement would be undertaken without there being a proper written contract. Did you get that far?

You could ask for your travel expenses.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read this: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
