  • Buyer refusing/relunctant to pay! Options?

    Greetings all

I will try and keep this simple.

I sold a racing cycle for the sum of £700.00 and the buyer bought it using Paypal. She actually drove over 150 miles to collect it. The following day she contacted me and told me some story about "using an old debit card"etc & she had no choice but to reverse the payment. I had no reason to believe she was dishonest etc. Her reputation on the Cycle website forum was excellent. This particular website cannot get involved in disputes.

There was a promise to send the money directly via BACs or some other banking transfer system. It has now been a number of weeks with excuse after excuse. No money has been sent. I have her full name, home address, business address and phone numbers as well as all the emails/text messages.

I have been a little naive of course!

So, good people of LegalBeagles Forum - what are my options? Any advice would be appreciated.

Peace all and enjoy your day!

You may need to bring a County Court claim for payment.

Make sure that you capture and keep all communications.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
