Hello .don't know if this is in the correct part of the forum

I have a PPI claim going on with " The Claims Guys "

They have said that the company they were trying to get the claim from, wanted an original version of my marriage certificate to prove my name change .
this was I suppose ok ….
so I sent it recorded delivery it all went through perfect they got it signed for it ,sent it to the company …
    brilliant
" The Claims Guys " then emailed me and said they were sending it back to me by recorded delivery ,this was on the 25th Jan

    i never received it

they have now confirmed that it has been LOST

i had an email from the claims guys saying that it was lost and they would send me a cheque for £30 to go and get
    a new one

    i have refused this !!

as we were married in Florida and the marriage certificate was from Florida

and very close to my heart .

what can I do ,so the company or post office pay for my data loss ???

Unlikely you would have a claim against the post office as for the claims guys what do they have to say apart from paying foe a copy?

You can order a copy ....

          http://www.floridahealth.gov/certifi...age/index.html

Application for Marriage Certificate Form DH261 (141K pdf)

The marriage record you are requesting must have occurred in Florida.

Did Claims Guys actually post the certificate back to you - is there a tracking reference ? or did they lose it before posting it ?

Have you been in touch with the post office and have you seen the posting receipt / tracking info - addresses correctly etc ? ( not that I don't trust claims guys or anything )

I have not been in touch with the post office
claims guys said they had done that ( and it was confirmed lost )
the tracking number they gave me ,I kept checking online and it said we can only check it when it was on its way to me

Royal Mail do lose things occasionally, and they pay a limited amount of compensation, depending on the service chosen. It's in the nature of the post that these things happen.

Claims Guys have done nothing wrong. They used the post, same as you did when you sent the item to them. I'm not clear why you turned down £30. Does it cost more to get a certificate sent from Florida?

I will get in touch and accept the £30
like you say its not the claims guys fault
                    its the post office

                    thank you for the advice
                    I appreciate that
