  • Concerned About Family Member

I am quite concerned about a family member.

He works full time for a wel known company and has a good wage. He pays national insurance and tax through PAYE.

However, he has a sideline he does wrestling.

I understand he hearns £250 a time for each appearance he does. I understand its cash in hand as far as I know.

He also told me other night, he runs a successfull wrestling company.

I'm just worried he has not declared all this to tax and revenue as a second income.

If he runs a wrestling company then he possibly does self assessment as well as his paye through his employer.

I can understand being concerned because of what he's doing ( private wrestling matches ) but there's not much to do about how he manages his finances - I'm sure he knows if he is avoiding paying tax it is likely to catch up with him at some point and has some contingency in place. He might also run into issues with his employer, most are fine with an unrelated side hustle - but running a company as well as being employed might be against his terms of employment - but again he likely knows what he's doing.
