Hi all,
Had a troubling email from my letting agency today advising me of a an inspection on Thursday. That's fair enough as I know they are routine but the wording of the email is concerning:
Dear Both,
Further to the inspection back in January, we were still concerned that proper care and attention is not being paid to general cleanliness in the property.
Therefore, I would like to inspected the flat on Thursday the 26th April.
If you can please ensure that a good effort is made, in particular to the following;
1. Carpets not being vacuumed.
2. Wet clothes being left.
3. General messiness throughout the flat.
Please note if we do not hear from you, we will assume that you have received this message and that you are happy us to gain access using our keys.
I can't believe that it has taken them 3 months to report an issue for a start, nothing came to me in January so it's something of a surprise. Secondly everything they've said is untrue (except I probably had wet clothes on a drying rack though can't remember because it was January).
I've emailed back to question why it has taken 3 months to bring this to my attention and disagreeing with what they've said. I've also asked for a postponement of a day because I'm planning to sleep most of the day after the Avengers midnight screening on Wednesday to be honest.
My questions are around why they might be saying this now, what the repercussions are if the property isn't up to their apparently unreasonable standards and how I can fight any of it? I've been served notice on two flats because landlords are selling and would rather not have this happen again.
Thanks for all your help.
