  • Legal aid help with County Court claims

    Hi all,

I usually get some help with civil discrimination claims by a law centre. The help I get, unfortunately, is very limited (and usually very poor) and usually given to me by layman.

I also struggle with debilitating health problems, which means I would struggle to manage my own litigation.

In light of the above, I feel I am being denied access to justice.

Does legal aid offer anything more appropriate in these circumstances?

    Many thanks.

Health problems didn't use to make any difference at all, and I doubt very much if that has changed.

A few years ago when my late husband had lost mental capacity through Alzheimers he was repeatedly denied Public Funding to challenge an unconstutional matter.

The Aire Centre in London lodged a claim to ECHR on my husband's behalf re his denial of access to the civil justice system, however ECHR deemed the claim inadmissable. It appears that very few claims against countries who enjoy a cosy relationship with ECHR even get past the first hurdle in the European Court.

      Thanks, sorry to hear that.

So much for access to justice...

The only things I can suggest at this stage are to try the Solicitors Pro Bono and the Bar Pro Bono Organisations

Thanks, I will look into that. I suspect they are inundated with requests for legal assistance though.
