  • Child maintenance question

Hi all not sure if anyone can advise,

I receive maintenance for my two kids. Eldest is 17 and left college to enter into an apprenticeship last year. I contacted child maintenance who said that I don’t tell them anything, that when child benefit removes her off the claim, they will inform child maintenance.

She’s doing a paid apprenticeship if this matters. So CB stopped for her but maintenance stayed the same. Ex husband is not involved in their lives at all but has emailed me asking me what are her plans for this year.

I know that I contacted the relevant department and just assumed that maybe I am still entitled to maintenance for her until next summer when she would be leaving college. Now that he’s got in touch I’m worried in case the information from CB wasn’t communicated to CMS and now I’m going to have to pay him back the money.

Cb and CMS are closed on the weekend and I know it’s going to worry me until Monday.

    Thanks
