  • Separation whilst in joint rental agreement

    Hi all,

Ok i wont go too far into the mess, but basically after 14 years and 2 children my partner and i have come to the point of separation. We live in a private rental home and the lease is up this june, and we are both on the lease. She wants me to leave but continue to pay the rent, £550 pm, until the end of the lease, or on a new lease, rather than her go to citizens advice or CSA to secure housing executive housing. She is determined to stay in this house, even though there is no way she can afford it. Now she has researched how much ill be paying per week in child maintenance, which is fine and ive no problems doing so, but now im being told that if she wants the private rental home paid for the court can make me do it, and more. Is this true? Am i up a creek here? If this is the case ill struggle to find somewhere i can afford for myself let alone bills etc.

Thanks so much in advance for any advice and info, if any more detail is needed just ask.
