I have been asked why a divorce takes so long if both parties agree and there are no financial or children issues to resolve and I have no idea ... can anyone enlighten me please?
Basically, a work colleague has just received an Acknowledgement of Service from her ex's solicitor, she is not contesting the divorce, the grounds are 2 years seperation, there are no children from the marriage and no finances to sort (no money on either side!), the general consensus is that it will take upto 6 months for the divorce to be finalised, but she was wondering why - esp as there is nothing to sort etc. Other than the 6 weeks + 1 day between the Nisi and the Absolute, are there any other "fixed" waiting times?
Thanks,
