  • Divorce Petition Recieved - what now

    Hi,
Am respondent to a divorce petition from my wife.
I cannot afford a solicitor as I fall outside legal aid support, but my outgoings swallow up my income due to joint debt, Bills and mortgage.

I know people say, well a petition has been filed so you may as well curl up and die and accept the out come.

I tried to approach a local solicitor for the free first consultation, but all they said was that it was an assesment about how to pay etc, and would not give any advice in that first consultation.

    any advice appreciated.
She moved out of the matrimonial home, Why, I don't know. There was no hostilities to force this. I gave here funds to get rented accomodation, where she is quite happy by all accounts. I'm worried that I will be forced to leave my own home. The house was bought with my redundency money from the forces. The mortgage is in sole name to me. all the mortgage payments etc were are bourne by me.

if i'm forced to leave my home I would not be able to afford anywhere else, due to all my outgoings.

it's frustrating, because the reasons that she has given for unreasonable behaviour are so petty and confusing it beggers belief that nobody has to provide proof in any of the allegations.

any way, i'd just like some advice on where to go from here.
