  • Early stages of separation with 2 children, Mortgage equal ownership and not married

    Hi,
wounded if anyone has been I. A simular situation. I’m separating from my partner for 12years we have 2 childrenand a house we both own 50%. Iv payed for everything ever since we have been living together and she is trying to force my hand to sell the property so she can walk away with her equity. She’s throwing out aload of demands regarding kid, and money. I would like to know where I stand and how I move forward?

If you are separating, you will both need housing, and of course the children will need to be provided for. Do you have an alternative proposal?

Is the reason your partner has been paying less been that she has been earning less, or possibly earning nothing being a homemaker with primary childcare responsibility?

That is correct. She was staying at for the children school etc. iv offered to try get money out the house to give her for housing and car regarding the kids. But I don’t know if I can financially do that. I’m in the process of finding out. And in return i she comes of the house. But if I can’t. What are our option? With selling being a last resort

What your options are depends on information we on this forum do not know, such as full details of finances, assets, income, housing needs and costs etc etc.

Selling the house, while the last resort, may be the only way.

I have a little bit on saving. I’m self employed, I have a financed car. And a mortgage on a property (50/50%ownership with my ex)that we all live in. 80% of my wages provide of the the bills and kids. The other 20% toward my travel for work and taking the family out. If I have money spare the end of the month. Reason for not selling the house is because I have bout it for my children future I never had anything growing up so I’m trying to give them everything I can

Is your relationship with your partner beyond repair?

Yes. Baring in mind this is on her part. She don’t love me no more. I have not done nothing to push her away and she is not giving me no other reason. Also we are not married. Don’t know if I said this
