  • Advice about the family home

Hi wanted some advice please. My father and mother have a house, mortgage all paid of for. My mum and dad divorced 40 years ago, however my mums name is still on the house deeds. My mother left the family home.
Since then my father has a new relationship and has also been married for the last fifteen years. My question is what happens to the family home in the event of his death? No one is in contact with my mother so she could have passed away and we wouldn't know about it.
My father is in his 70s now and his health has declined over the last two years. He is also suffering from dementia so is unable to make sound decisions, his wife now takes care of all his matters.
    Many Thanks.

It could all depend on the financial settlement at the time of the divorce.
