  • Advice on Spousal maintainece

    Morning,
I'm currently going through a divorce with my ex wife of 10 years.
although reasonably amicable, she is asking for lifetime spousal maintainence.
at the moment I earn 3300 a month, and give her 1616 a month to pay the mortgage and child maintainence.
after the divorce she wants 770 a month for life + 616 cm.
From what I've heard life time spousal maintainence is quite rare, would this be an unreasonable request?
Bearing in mind I've also said she can have the 260k house and the 60k equity.
my concern is that when I retire the 770 would equate to around 60% of my income from pensions.

she is also saying she wants access to my new partners salary and disability benefit if we move in together, and more money a month if I get a better job or inheritance.

I'm struggling financially at the moment an don't think I can afford to hire a solicitor to fight this. I'm not sure what to do at the moment. Any advice would be appreciated

    Thanks in advance
