Thanks to Celestine for this one from the LB twitter link. This is the theory. This page does bring up a pop up asking whether you need help(so it's bloody annoying) but the basics are here.
I would add a little bit from personal experience. Before the Initial Child Protection Case Conference you will be given the assessment of the social worker who made the referral. You need to look through this document carefully for inaccurate factual information ie David has a squint(if he does not then ensure that you point this out and if there was a recent eye test then take the results). At the start of the meeting you are given more paperwork which might include child's medical appointment or parent's appointments which might include appointments missed or re arranged. These may also contain errors. If the errors are merely that the Nursery stated that the child was not dressed properly then that is their opinion and is not really challengeable.
You have the right to record all meeting with social services, to ensure that you can fully understand what they say, but it would be better to ensure that you make them aware that you are doing so in advance. The process will look at the negatives more than the positives but you can get through it.
