• Odd adoption

Hi I'm Simon a new member on here and as the title suggest I have an odd adoption query.
Now just to let you know it baffles whoever looks into it or hears the story so let me tell you it.

My wife and I Sarah are 36 years of age been married from the age of 17 and 18, we had a little boy J soon after getting married he's now 18. 15 months later we had a little girl K, a month later my father passed away and we were struggling to come to terms with this.

Our then next door neighbours offered us help and looked after our little girl. They looked after her while we sorted things out in our lives we saw K every day and we were on good terms. The neighbours then moved away taking our daughter with them.

We tried finding them but to no avail, having a little boy we panicked because we didn't want the ss to take him as well so never contacted anybody about, we were young naive and a little stupid. We are now struggling to find any information about the adoption we have applied for a birth certificate in K's name it returned with adoption added to it.

We have never had any information on any adoption, never signed anything, never had a case worker, never had a court date, never given consent to anything that has happened.

We now are hitting a brick wall with anything we try, we get passed from pillar to post because we are not entitled to any information apparently.

Now we are to understand we were supposed to give consent and supposed to have had meetings, court dates, counciling and a social worker we have had nothing and have no information on anything.

Now we do have a little bit of good news we have found our daughter on Facebook.

This adoption has baffled 2 family solicitors and any adoption agency we contact for help or advice it would be appreciated on how we can get information on this matter or anybody who could help us. After adoption couldn't get us info.

We aren't even sure she has been adopted and it has been suggested by the family solicitors that it wouldn't happen without us knowing and been involved in the process thanks for reading and any advice for me and my wife would help thanks Simon and Sarah

Hi Moley ... I'm sorry I cannot offer you any help or advice on this (although I wish I could), but I will say that I am glad you found your daughter on FB!
Have you contacted SS to query the 'adoption' since you found out about it? It might be a good first point of call ...
I hope that you manage to get some much needed help and advice from the Beagles more knowledgeable in these things.

How old is your daughter now? That is the basic start for this type of question

Moley - it sounds like kidnap. I don't know what you can do, though (unless you involve the police, which would open a huge can of worms). Do you think your daughter knows the circumstances?

We have reported it to the police and they didn't want to know they filled out a missing persons file then rang me back stating an adoption wouldn't happen without us knowing
