  • Fathers rights for unborn child??

    I hope someone can help...

I was in a relationship last year that ended on bad terms.
thereafter, I was advised that the female concerned was pregnant with my child.

she later advised me that the father was someone else she had been seeing (and is now in a relationship with) behind my back.

recently, I was advised by a relative of hers that the child is in fact mine and she wants me to have nothing to do with the baby.

when I tried to contact her to discuss this, i receive a phonecall from the police to stop harassing her!
bear in mind, I only sent an e-mail

Surely I have some sort of right to know if I am the father before the child is born?

    please help?!?

She could say the father is Elvis Presley until the child is born and a DNA test is done.

Only a DNA test can tell if you are actually the father, you need to contact a family law solicitor and have a free consultation as to how to obtain it, but it can't be done until the child arrives.

        Why?

You do not have the right to demand your genetic material is returned, nor can you copyright it.

this is about morals and principles.
not some drivel about "genetic material"

Obviously you WANT to know if she is carrying your child, but until the baby is born, that cannot be confirmed.
With relations as bad as they are with your ex, you will have to use a solicitor to commence communication formally with a view to:
            a) confirm paternity.
            b) request access if positively confirmed as your child.

The best advice I can offer is to save up lots of money for the legal costs, as well as the child
If this is your baby, then you have a long fight on your hands. Even though she is being hostile, you will need to establish a sensible relationship with her, this will be hard but can be achieved with willpower and a calm rational approach.

            best of luck
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

The most important thing is to confirm paternity which would be in the form of a DNA test. Until then things such as Parental Responsibility, Contact and Maintenance are not things that can be done.

if the DNA test is positive and you are the father then the likelihood is that you may well need to go down the legal route. If you still have any correspondence from the mother stating that you are not the father then at the moment you need to keep them safe as evidence should at a later date it be claimed that you did not want to know anything about the child either during pregancy or once the child was born.

I was trying to look at websites that might be able to help such as fathers for justice, family rights group, etc etc. There is a large spectrum out there which may be able to help.
