can money from an inheritance be claimed back from me?

I received an inheritance from an Uncle a few years ago, in two separate payments - the last one being in March 2011 (over 2 years ago).
Today I received a letter from the solicitor stating that I had to repay over £900 as the tax had been mis-calculated, something to do with the tax not being deducted at source.
Am I liable? Shouldn't the solicitor have sorted this out before making any payments?

What tax? Ask him to provide a detailed breakdown.

What tax? Ask him to provide a detailed breakdown.

I will do that, but it is income tax. He had policies in the Isle of Man, and the solicitor states he decided not to have the tax deducted at source, which is why we have this "situation".

I do believe the solicitor should have sorted this out at the time?????? Think you should go back to the solicitor and ask what happened ! It's been 2 years also , is there laws where there is a time scale! I'm thinking this is a bit strange?..
