After nearly three years of being messed around by the CSA clowns I finally got a letter of enforcement off them yesterday giving me 7 days to pay in full or I'll be taken to court, the sum they came up with was over £7000 of arrears (default weekly charge of £40 per week totalling around £5600 plus underpayments from 2008).
I promptly phoned the enforcement team up and got this really nice guy (despite his name being Michael Hunt I kid you not), I told him there is no way I can find this amount of money and I've been trying for nearly three years to have my account sorted without any success and the amount owed was in dispute dating back to June 2010.
He said he can see a dispute was raised but never resolved as I didn't send them the relevant information they asked for, I told him that I've sent them all the info they asked for three times and I even had confirmation of them receiving it but the account is still in dispute.
He asked me to send the two years of self assessment accounts to him and he'll look into it, I sent them to him via email and 3 hours later he called me back to say the account is now updated.
My new amount is £2300 and my weekly payable amount is £5.14 per week, he wants me to pay £130 a month until the arrears are paid off (not sure if I can make those payments as I have very little work coming in but I'll try my hardest), he has stopped the enforcement but asked me to keep up the regular payments.
Like I said! a very nice guy and I appreciate all the help and advise he gave me.
Why all this wasn't sorted out earlier concerns me and I wonder how many other fathers are out there who are being charged more than they can afford because the clowns at SCA are not doing their jobs correctly, just turn up to work each morning slapping on their swastika arm bands and terrorising hundreds of fathers throughout the country.
I didn't tell Mike that I have major problems at home because I know they don't really care so long as they get their money, I'll have to pay the £130 a month and forget about the fact that I have no carpet in the living room, no hot water or central heating as the boiler is now goosed, the roof is leaking and needs repairing and my wife is just about keeping us afloat with paying the bills.
At least we don't have a massive gas bill to worry about, because we've used less then a quarter of what we did this time last year EON are sending someone out to check our meter. Lol
