Being reasonable about access.

My partner and I split up just over 3 months ago. We have a child of 8 months.
When we first separated, we came to a verbal agreement on which days he could see his daughter. He has continuously broken these arrangement, on several occasions, at the very last minute.
I have now had enough of his broken promises, and have told him that, if in future he wishes to see his daughter, he must take me to court to gain access to her. I have not said he cannot see her ever again, just that I would feel happier if his visits with her were agreed legally.
Am I doing the right thing?

Absolutely, you have been resonable, you and your child need a lasting commitment, if the father is not willing to stand up and make a legal commitment, then best to part now( I am male), but serious things need serious commitments.

I agree with savin, it is best to get it all legally sorted now.
You baby will not remember the legalities and she will know you have done everything you can to make sure she sees her dad.
You are being more than reasonable, you are doing what every mother in the world does, protecting your baby.
