Hi I am hoping to get advise on my rights and claim to family business and property that I helped build but my name was never listed in any title documents or deeds. I worked in the family business for 14 years, opening and closing,16 hour shifts, 7 days a week without pay. My wife worked for 7 years without pay. Me and my wife left and the Business which is now being run by Sibling No3. During my time running the business the profits were used by my parents to fund their lavish lifestyle, holidays, properties, home and abroad with Sibling No1. I was always told the business and properties would eventually be divided amongst all us siblings (my other siblings were employed in 9 to 5 jobs) who would help out now and again after their work. My father now has dementia and no longer has mental capacity to make decisions. Sibling No1, who never worked in the business but always joined my parents on their holidays, has got him to sign over his house into their name and sold the property abroad and kept the proceeds even though my father no longer has the mental capacity to make legal decisions. However, the business is in the name of Sibling No2 who is planning to selling it behind my and Sibling No3s back and keep the proceeds for themselves. Sorry messed up family. Do I have any rights to claim my share of any of the proceeds or a share of the business? Can I freeze assets to prevent a sale? I appreciate your help in the matter.

I agree: the OP needs to see a solicitor.Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.
Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

Thank you for your replies islandgirl and atticus . Could you tell me which type of solicitors would specialise in this legal issue. What specialised field would it come under? I have called family solicitors who say they dont deal with this type of case and can not recommend anyone. Any kind of help narrowing the type of solicitors I should be seeing would be a great help. Thank you
