Hello, my son has been asked by an author if he can use a photograph of a world war one soldier which he (my son) has on his public family tree online.... can he give permission for the photograph to be used or does he need to get other family permission. I can ask my aunt who is the neice of the man in the photo, is that enough permission... I don't want my son to have any negative comeback from other family members in the future. The book focuses on a particular area in the UK and the family may still be living in the area and take an interest in the book.... We have no other contact with that side of the family apart from my aunt.
    Thank you....

The question is not so much a legal one, but rather about family relationships. Your son needs to make sure that he speaks to everyone who might otherwise give "negative comeback".
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

Thank you for your reply...The only member of the family we are in touch with is my aunt, the soldiers niece.... I think the family cut off the soldiers brother (my grandfather) when he married what his family considered an unsuitable person (my grandmother) That would have been around 90 years ago, there has never been contact between them and us. So as long as I have my aunts permission would that be enough do you think?
