  • Investment Policy and Power of Attorney

I am a Registered LPA attorney for my father who has Prostate Cancer. He had taken out an Investment Policy for 2 siblings and one for me which have matured now. He intension is to give each child the proceeds from his/her policy. I would like to cash in the policies for my father and carry out his intensions.

I already manage his bank accounts and his Benefits with agreement from the siblings.

Can I do this as an attorney and complete forms and sign?

The powers given within an LPA are specific and particular. You can do whatever is included, but not not.

I have an LPA for Property and Financial affairs. However, there are no specific items mentioned. Confusing!!

Either the power is expressed or it does not exist.

          Thanks DSIPPY!!.

Contacted company which was very helpful - resolved by sending LPA to verify. Once done, I can ask for release of funds as per his wishes.
