  • Rights to house that I own 100%

    Hello,

Myself and my partner are on the verge of splitting up.

We have a 8 year old daughter.

The house is solely in my name as well as the mortgage.

I want to continue living there and having my daughter there as well so it is essential that I have a place of my own for my daughter.

Can I be forced to sell the property by my partner we are not married.

She has always contributed the mortgage payment each month and I have covered the other bills.

I am more than willing to sell the property and split the proceeds right down the middle.

I would be grateful of any advice.

    Kind Regards

    R

It is a legal forum and someone better qualified will advise. I don't think you could be forced unless a court decision.
However, I'm sure you will both put the best interests of your daughter first. It is crucial that she doesn't see any conflict between the two most important people. I taught in primary school for decades and seen the effects a split can have.
Please try to maintain respectful and considerate communication. Perhaps you could agree a solution between you. Perhaps have some form of mediation.
Sorry this is happening. I wish you all well.
