• investigation/Gross misconduct

I was today suspended pending investigation,

The main reason is falsifying expenses, which I had no knowledge of receiving.

I asked my boss to pay for a night out team building which he refused, he told to put in the receipt afterward and he would consider possibly funding it.

I put in the receipted for £218 then heard nothing, I was told today that £109 was paid to me some months ago.

I received no notice in writing or verbally this money was paid into my account, I genuinely did not know this had been paid and it should have been put to another night out.

Having recently had a bit of a fall out with my boss This is clearly going to end in a gross misconduct coming my way.

I have no issue in giving the money back or putting in for another team builder as this is what it is for, but this is a genuine mistake but I feel its going to cost my job.

I am tempted to resign before the investigation as at least i will receive 1 month pay but if i get 'fired' for GMC then I will not.

Any thoughts?

How would it be falsifying expenses ? You submitted a receipt, and presumably they paid half of it ( did you have any other expenses in at the same time?)

Unless you said in your expenses report that it was for something that it wasn't, then you haven't falsified anything.

How long have you been at the firm ?

Do you generally have expenses or was this a one off ?

I have them from time to time but not regularly. we do not receive notification when expenses are processed or any notification, often we have to chase expenses

You say that 'falsifying expenses' is the main reason - are the other reasons dismissable on their own ?

How did you find out that £109 had been paid to you ( and does your bank /wage slip etc agree? )

Are you suspended on full pay pending an investigation ?

I'll tag Ula to give you a hand with the process and what happens ( should happen ) and what your rights are. Personally, if you have done nothing wrong I can't see resigning would solve anything.

there is authorising an overtime payment at double time (once) due to dire staffing issues, this has been done previously on several occasions, I am the operations manager and instructed to keep the business running, I did not ask permission as I/we have done this previously, other things are minor but I can see due to the breakdown in relationship with my boss they adding anything they can to the investigation.
i have never been told i cannot authorise overtime payment and I have authorised then since I started 2.5 yrs ago
