  • Repayment of training fees (after handing in notice being liable for further costs?)

    Dear All,

I am on a training contract. Each year of my employment is billable to myself at £2500 if I leave the organisation. E.g. If I leave within year 1 = £2,500. If I leave in year 2 = £5000.

I have a 3 month notice period which must be worked.

My second year is due to start in 2 months.

If I hand my notice in today, leaving in 3 months as per my notice period, will the employer be able to enforce payment for the second year (E.g. £5,000)? This is on the basis that my letter of resignation will state that I do not wish to receive any further training as I am leaving the organisation.

    Kind Regards,
    Mr Bowling
