  • Full sick pay, 5 days or 7?

Hi there, i have a couple of other threads discussing my ongoing issues and how they have related to work.

I get 3 months full pay while off sick.

(ive changed a couple of facts to make it less complicated)

this week i am self certified after an operation, i was going to take a week and return to work monday, however after speaking to my manager he asked if i thought id be well enough to work the weekend, i said i might be, but was going to wait until later in the week to see how i felt.

But this got me thinking, how does that benefit me, if i return sat/sun (forgetting its easter sunday) i still get my whole salary at the end of the month, and i guess they deduct a weeks sick allowance from my 3 months, even though i only took 5 days off sick, but if i take 7 days off and dont return until monday, i still get the same full pay and the same week deducted from my entitlement.

Am i right in this thinking, or have i got something wrong?

Im not trying to swing it or anything, i just realised this yesterday and thought it strange.

    Does anyone know?

    Thanks.

Im self certified at the moment, if i am sick after that i will get a unfit for work note from my doctor.

Its all by the way now anyway as i feel very unwell now,and may have caught an infection after my procedure (the hospital said their was a increased chance of this), so i wont be returning to work until at least monday anyway.

Technically i will probaby return sunday, but as we are closed that day. it would be monday, if it goes beyond sunday, then obviously i will need to go to the doctors and be signed off.

Had the manager on the phone though, saying he needs to know today when i am returning as he has a family and things to do as well, so wants to know if i am coming in this week at all or not, i cant really speak at the moment without pain due to my throat being sore, so my wife is speaking to him for me this afternoon (as she did earlier) to say as i dont know 100% that if he needs to know nowm then the answer will have to be no, i wont be back this week.
