  • Sacked - 'Intellectual Copyrights'.....?

I seem to keep opening with the fact that I've been sacked..! Though it's very relevant to my questions in each topic.

Just wondering where I stand with regards to any documentation that I have created in my previous job(s)?

When I moved to the company I brought a load of my old work (various documents, templates, spreadsheets bla bla) that I had put together over the previous years. I could use a lot as 'templates' to help speed up my work/productivity in the job and I would often have a lot of reference material. Some of the items would also work as 'reference' material when bidding for work on new projects.

Now, seeing as I've been sacked, I no longer have access to all of that work + the newer lot I created since being there.

(I have some backed up, though not all)

Where do I stand on getting any of this back? I know there are certain implications of specific project details that aren't to be made common knowledge.. I just want some of it back! Even as 'portfolio' or reference material this would help looking forward..

    What do you think?

As you said in another post, you were never given a written contract. Then anything your created yourself prior to working as an employee is yours alone, same if you were working as a contractor only (if not written contract existed) If they wished to continue to use said documents etc etc, they would have to pay a license fee. However anything you created in your capacity as their employee is theirs!

To be honest given all the questions its clear this is a very complicated issue, and i think your best bet would be to speak directly to a solicitor about all the issues/questions you have.

      Interesting points, thanks

I'm looking back over backed up sources to see how much I'm missing but will keep this in mind.
