Re: Do management need to give you a reason to move you?
OK, so 2 months have now passed since my original post and both my colleague and I have now been compulsory transfered to a new location for a little over a month. The union where meant to be getting back in touch with us but have been of no support and I feel have simply forgotten about us - granted I have not been pressing this matter due to other commitments.
My colleague managed to get a meeting arranged with a more senior manager (the one who gave the clearance / authority to our line manager for this "freshen up" to happen) My colleague was informed by this senior manager "I can't dissuade you both from putting in a greivance, but what I will say is be very careful as it may unturn stones better left alone". We are still perplexed by the meaning of this.
I am unsure as what to do next. The union seem unhelpful / powerless and those who have been in the job longer than me say thats its pointless putting in greivance as little is acheived from it apart from causing the indivudal submitting it more stress.
Its seems quite clear that the organsiational and management culture is to keep your head down and to not highlight problems. Since the compulsory transfer I am finding work stressful. As for "my development" which was the reason I was told I was being moved, I have de-skilled, now only perfomring 1 task daily whereas at my previous location there was a fair rotation of staff and tasks.
Any further and new advice would be much appreciated.
